Monkey Bananas!

Monkeys in a desert having a street-fighter battle using bananas as weapons!

Initially created in 3 days for the Winnipeg Game Jam 2025 (organized by the Winnipeg Game Collective), with theme "an unconventional weapon" (here, bananas).  

This is Tal and Chris' first game made in Godot, or any major game engine really! Version 1.2 was simple but had a start, middle, and end, and was presented at the end-of-jam celebration showcase on the evening of Feb 23, 2025. We may add some updates and improvements post-jam.

  • Tal: Concept, Programming (movement, actions, most things), SFX (monkey screams)

  • Palette buzzybees by ATB Man (on lospec)
  • We used Godot 4.0 to make the game, Bryce 7 for the background, Reaper (mostly MT32 instruments) for music, and Aseprite for pixel art stuff
  • Special thanks to Marc Cacho for Godot troubleshooting help during the jam, and MOSMA for recording Tal's monkey sound effects and for providing the banana splats (some sound bank of theirs, I guess)
